What is Make?
Make (formerly Integromat) is a visual no-code automation platform that builds workflows by connecting apps and services together. Where Zapier offers simpler linear automations, Make excels at complex, branching workflows with conditional logic, error handling and data transformation. The platform integrates more than 1,500 apps and services.
How does Make work?
Make works with scenarios: visual workflows built by connecting modules (app actions) via a drag-and-drop interface. A scenario can start with a trigger (e.g. a new form submission), process data (filter, transform), and then execute actions in multiple apps (send an email, update a CRM, update a spreadsheet).
Make has also added AI integrations: via OpenAI, Anthropic and other AI APIs, AI actions can be integrated into automation workflows — e.g. AI-generated email responses, document summarization or sentiment analysis as a step in a larger workflow.
Core features
- Visual scenario builder — drag-and-drop workflow design
- 1,500+ app integrations — wide range of services
- Complex logic — conditional branching, iterations, error handling
- Data transformation — format, filter and enrich data
- AI modules — integrate OpenAI, Claude and other AI services
- Webhooks — connect to virtually any external service
Comparison with Zapier and n8n
Make sits in terms of complexity between Zapier (simpler) and n8n (more technical). Zapier is better for simple automations; Make for complex multi-step workflows; n8n for maximum control and self-hosting.
Advantages
- More powerful workflows than Zapier at comparable price
- Visual and intuitive for non-technical users
- Large range of native integrations
Disadvantages
- Steeper learning curve than Zapier
- Complex workflows can be difficult to debug
Pricing
Free plan with 1,000 operations per month. Core plan approximately €10.59/month. Pro plan for higher volumes.
Who is it for?
Make is ideal for businesses and power users who want to automate complex, multi-step business processes without programming, but want more control than Zapier offers.
